I am having Gastric Bypass next month and I had to stop smoking, I tried the patch and it worked for me. The only thing about the patch is that it would fall off half way through the day, so I started wearing it on my breast that way my bra would keep it on all day. When using the patch I also went to see a chinese doctor who place a fix in my ear to help me with my cravings(it only cost $65). Before I quit smoking I told myself that I was going to do this because I had came so far with wanting to have this surgery, When I started all this gastric bypass with my insurance and my doctor it was last April(2009) and look I am having surgery in March(2010). Also I have had to change my way of eating and I am talkin bout what I eat and my part size…so what I am sayin is that if your gonna do all this hard work to be able to have this surgery, than you need to tell yourself that you are goin to stop smokin so you can have the surgery…it’s just not worth it. Also I have a friend who had the surgery and she quit for a month, than after surgery she started again(what is the dr going to do reverse it…they can’t.) LOL.
